DOTM Sentinel Prime (Part 3)

Sentinel Prime in his younger days. (Notice his V-fins were still black.) Fresh out from Prime College, brash, impudent, a biggoted idealist who espoused, 'Freedom is the right of all sentient beings.' This ideal was later embraced by his successor, Optimus Prime.

Sentinel Prime, battle-hardened warrior. As he grew in wisdom, he began to teach 'Freedom may be the right of all sentient beings. But the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.' ^^!

Did anyone notice Sentinel Prime looks a wee bit like Justice Gundam?
Athrun Zala, Justice, deru!
Sentinel Prime, erm..er.., roll out!

DOTM Sentinel Prime (Part 2)

I wonder why the designer decided to use yellow LEDs for Sentinel Prime's eyes? Shouldn't it be blue? Also, black V-fins look really weird.

After days of painting and dry brushing, here are some close-up shots of this awesome toy.
The rubber hose section of the High Reach Extendable Turret (HRET) was slightly bent, probably cos I didn't store the toy properly. This had become sort of permanent, such that if I tried to straighten it, it would quickly bend itself back. I recalled the hot-cold method as taught me by Tritone some years back. This was used to straighten bent Gashapons.

The method is quick, simple and brilliant. Just pour boiling water into a small container, dip the offending rubber piece into the water for a few seconds. The bent rubber piece will straighten by itself automatically! Really amazing. After that, quickly dip that piece into ice cold water to 'stop the cooking'. Thanks for the tip bro ^^

Lastly, the Primax blade and shield. I use gold paint to highlight the runes on the Primax blade to give it a 'One Ring to rule them all' feel :p

DOTM Sentinel Prime (Part 1)

Sentinel Prime. A true strong leader, no nonsense, clear vision, measurable goal, steadfast, Victory at all costs. His successor, on the other hand, is just full of pompous hot air.

"Optimus, you simply fail to understand that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few."

"Duh?"

"How do I put this?... You can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs."

"Errr boss... I prefer them sunny side up."

"I think I may have found my successor."

This toy is great. Good articulation, complex transformation. The only thing that bothered me was the ubiquitous use of boring grey which seems to plague Hasbro's toys. Still, it's not something a bit of metal grey, silver and gold paint wouldn't fix. Here's what I have done after a few weekends. Still lots of little details to take care of.
